Nightshade the assassin has accepted a new contract it was disclosed 
yesterday.  No more details are available as yet, but we are sure the 
potion-suppliers will do a brisk trade.  More reports as they come 
in.

A correction to a minor detail in our report on the killing of the 
"White" Dragon:  The group which succeeded in the task were only 
temporarily contracted to the Haldeman Merchant Guild, and were not 
"agents of Haldeman" as we reported..

A request has been made for us to print an old story concerning 
Randsom, the enforcer for Guild Parvel.  His house was burnt to the 
ground a few days ago and he had a hand cut off in the fight.  
Coromir Maralethion, an elven worshipper of the Drow goddess Elistree 
claims responsibility.  She must either by very brave or extremely 
foolhardy to want to advertise this action against one of Parvel's 
most violent and effective operators.  An obituary is being prepared!

The desert sandstorm is growing steadily worse.  It is believed to 
have begun moving south and has weather watchers concerned.  We all 
pray it does not reach the city.

The fire in the municipal dump is out!  A group of mages extinguished 
the flames with magic when it was decided there was no other way to 
stop it.  The city's firefighters had to overcome many problems, not 
least of which was a totally inadequate water supply.  The city can 
breath a sigh of relief and give thanks to the brave firefighters and 
mages.

The Church of Torm has retracted its allegations concerning Samson 
Umtata and his tribe.  They are claiming the allegations were never 
made by them.  However, there are documents in existence which prove 
that the allegations were made as reported.  Umtata is apparently 
back in custody and stands trial tomorrow.

A riot flared up in Orc Spit when a Half-orc guard, Orank, was sacked 
from the Bloody Talon tavern.  Heavily armed City troops were sent in 
to regain control of the streets after rioters wrecked and looted the 
tavern and attacked neighbouring properties.  There were considerable 
orcish casualties.  The reputation of the Orcs has sunk to an all 
time low in Calimport and there have been suggestions that the Orc 
Spit remit be revoked and Calimport sanitised of Orcs.

Sewer workers have reported a number of strange noises apparently 
coming from beneath the sewers.  One man claims to have heard the 
sound of a battle while another has heard singing.  The old legends 
of gold under Calimport have been dismissed as fairy tales for 
generations.  Maybe there is something there after all!

The Caliph is about to embark on a three month tour of Calimshan.  
The Caliph's state barge will be escorted by a flotilla of crack Navy 
warships.  There will be a grand proccessional from the Palace to 
Umberlee's Shrine for a service of blessing and offerings to the 
Goddess of the Seas.  It will begin two hours after dawn in three 
days time.

The funeral of the High Priestess of Correllon Larethian will take 
place today.  Her mortal remains will be transported back to the land 
of her birth, the Forest of Shilmista in the north.  Leaders of the 
other major religions in Calimport have promised to attend the 
ceremony.  Nylaathria Silverspear was the latest victim of Nightshade 
the Assassin.
