Weather watchers report a sandstorm brewing in the deep desert. At
this time of year, it is not unknown for sandstorms to come as far
south as Calimport itself. There are no indications yet that this
one will reach the city, but warnings will be issued if it does.
The latest bids in the auction for the list of Harper agents have
topped the half million Bicenta mark already. A great deal of
interest has been shown in this document, even from as far afield as
Thay and of course Tethyr and Amn. We believe Harpers to be behind
the attacks upon certain premises owned by Guild Purl. Needless to
say, the document is in a VERY secure location and will only be
available for perusal in the final stages of bidding. Indeed, the
highest bid so far has come from the Harpers themselves! Further
reports will follow soon.
Further to our report yesterday, the Church of Torm has declared
Samson Umtata and his associates fugitives from the arm of Tormish
law and will be put to death on sight. We also have it on good
authority that the murderer Umtata has escaped prison and is loose in
the city. Citizens are warned that this is a dangerous and evil
individual. Lord Pangorn, Knight of Torm is the person all sightings
should be reported to.
The White Dragon is dead! Reports have arrived that agents of Guild
Haldeman hunted the dragon back to its lair and killed it, revealing
its true nature to be that of a Blue Dragon. It is thought that it
disguised itself as a White to cause confusion. It must be said that
this tactic was mostly successful, this at least one band of hunters
equipped with magical defences against a White Dragon's frosty
breath, which were useless against the Blue Dragon's lightning bolt
attack. Most of these bands fell victim to the Dragon. Once again,
however, the City owes a debt of gratitude to the Merchant Guild
Haldeman. We remember the case of the Dragon Turtle from some years
back which Haldeman agents successfully drove off after it had
harassed ships for months.
Lassarial Goldmane, the elf responsible for investigating the
"Spectral Elf" sightings has refused to answer any of our questions
concerning his investigations. We believe he has discovered the
source of the manifestation but will divulge nothing further than a
statement to the effect that the manifestation is harmless and anyone
who sees it is in no danger whatsoever.
Several deaths have been reported in the West Docks. The deaths are
mysterious and some have linked them to the plague ship currently
quarantined beyond the harbour. These rumours are pure speculation
as there is no evidence linking them. There is no cause for alarm
and all stories such as this will achieve is unnecessary panic.
The last 24 hours has seen a great many street-fights break out.
There are also reports that there are fewer "street girls" in their
usual haunts. Both these facts tend to support the stories that a
major conflict is brewing between Parvel and another guild. The old
feud between Brandson and Parvel had seemed settled, but recent
events seem to have brought it back afresh. We strongly recommend
our readers to keep clear of all potential conflicts between the two
organisations.
Finally, Calim Grand Casino will remain closed for repairs for the
next three days. A grand opening is scheduled for the 23rd of Uktar.
