Description:

Danilo stands 5' 11" tall and is of medium build, he has blonde hair and blue eyes. He is "famous" for his eye for fashion, usually seen wearing exotically designed and coloured clothing, for example the famous puce and aquamarine tartan shirt a colour combination suggested by a quasit who was amazed when Danilo took him up on it! The quasit was later made famous by the magazine "Visage" as the leading fashion designer from the Outer Planes.

History:

Danilo comes from a well to do Waterdeep trading family, as a consequence he never had to want for anything as a child. Danilo was spoilt in his young days being the family's first child, he now has a brother and two sisters.

His father always believed that Danilo would take over the family business but it became apparent in his mid teens that this was not what Danilo intended, he wanted to be a fashion designer! His father insisted that Danilo learn a trade viewing his son's ambitions with disdain. As a consequence he was apprenticed to a locksmith known to his father. Danilo's natural dexterity enabled him to pick up the skills associated with this trade quickly. This was fortunate as 6 months into his apprenticeship he was dismissed by his master after he was found in the bedroom of a well known Lady customer by her husband who refused to believe that Danilo was repairing the lock to her wardrobe at midnight when both were only half dressed!

Danilo's father did not seem as annoyed by this development as Danilo first thought he would be. Danilo's next apprenticeship was with a mage, again this did not last long but Danilo did stay long enough to learn the basics upon which he has built over time, he left however after the mage took objection to him trying to "put more shape" into his robe of the archmagi. This lead to Danilo being sent to squire to a local Lord in a hope he would learn the martial arts. Again he only lasted a few months when the Lord asked him to leave as he did not believe that Danilo should be improving his swordplay with his teenage daughter.

Danilo returned to Waterdeep society and met up with a couple of young nobles who were prepared to finance his suggestion of a magazine for the Waterdhavian young, in part because of the fact that there would be various models to be drawn! Several months later the first edition of Visage hit the streets with Danilo as the editor. The magazine was surprisingly successful and Danilo as the "creative" heart had a share of the profits, this more than anything impressed his father. After a couple of years however Danilo tired of the life of an editor (this loss of interest coincided with a dearth of new models) and he decided to try the life of an adventurer whilst remaining a shareholder and roving reporter, thus he joined the Fallow's Cross group who were quick to appreciate precisely the talents that Danilo brought with him.

Danilo will be the first to admit that life at Fallow's Cross has been one of the most enjoyable periods of his life, where else would he have got to meet the person he describes as perhaps the most innovative Dwarven fashion designer of his generation (although Relg does not necessarily appreciate either the description or the degree to which Danilo has spread his reputation particularly amongst other Dwarves - the year before last's Spring Visage, with the special feature written entirely in Dwarvish, proved to be the best ever selling edition, in part because of the copies sent free to local Dwarven communities). Relg, credited with the invention of Dwarven shredded look will no doubt get his revenge one day but all will remember the pictures of the dummy he uses to fit armour appearing with his new shredded clothes designs. When it was pointed out to Danilo by Relg that the picture was a fabrication the usual response was "So is all fashion design - er - watch what you are doing with that axe old fellow!"

Recently Danilo went to Calimport and whilst there tried to interest the Golemic Scribes in his articles, for some strange reason they did not appear overly enthusiastic muttering something about street credibility. However the article Danilo penned whilst there was later published in Visage and is reproduced here with the kind permission of Visage Publishing Co. of Waterdeep. Here is the article which appeared in Visage.

Notes:

Danilo appears the fop and this is a role which he plays to the hilt, underneath the facade however is a reasonably intelligent person who is far more serious than he lets on. He does not suffer people who cannot laugh at themselves or who take themselves too seriously, life is a serious matter but it is also to be enjoyed to the hilt.
