Born to the tribal cultures of Chult (and to a very different name than his adopted one), Percy was amongst several four year olds in his tribe who were gathered to be blessed by the Shaman of Eshowdow, prior to the initial stages of their warrior training.
As the shaman began making his magical passes over the children, attempting to divine their fates and establish which of them were to train as warriors, and which were to be sacrificed to appease Eshowdow, most children either openly showed their fear, or struggled to display a brave face. Percy, however, was different, displaying neither fear, nor courage, but simply fascination with what the shaman was doing, trying, in his own childlike fashion to mimic the shaman's hand movements.
This was noted, and the shaman claimed him as his own, thus Percy began his first magical career, as a specialist diviner.
Percy learned quickly and well, and finally came to the conclusion that the old shaman had no more to teach him, and much to the old man's disappointment, opted to leave the village in search of new teachers and new magics, rather than staying to replace the shaman when he died.
So, at sixteen, Percy left the village and began to wander the world in search of new magic. His search was mostly unsuccessful, until some six years later he decide that a familiar might be able to aid him in his search, thus he set up a camp for himself a little outside Tantras and began preparations for the casting of the Find Familiar spell.
As was to become a hallmark of his career, Percy's timing in this was less than ideal. The culmination of his casting coincided with the conclusion of the battle between Torm and Bane during the time of troubles.
Percy was astounded to see the magic of his spell twisted and strengthened by the god-strewn forces flying around, but was at the same time fascinated by it. He resolved at that moment to begin studying ways of manipulating raw magical energy in similar fashion, shaping it to his own ends. Thus began his new career as a wild mage.
Of more immediate import however, was the way in which his spell had been altered. Rather than the weasel he had been expecting, a Hippogriff had arrived, who was to remain Percy's familiar up until his death, and his friend beyond that point. But that story is told more fully in the history section.
Percy has never quite shaken of his diviner heritage, and is to this day unable to cast Invocation/Evocation spells.
Although he has always been considered somewhat unpredictable, Percy has acquired new magical items recently that make him even more chaotic. Worst of these are the two, almost fully charged, Wands of wonder and an item called Loincloth of Nahal's Control which gives Percy far less control over his signature spell than he thinks it does.
Percy has recently been using the extensive knowledge of narcotics that he picked up as a part of his shamanistic training to aid him in the research of several new wild magic spells.
He is now about ready to present these spells to Fallows Cross for inclusion in the spell library. When he does you will be able to read about them there.
