Meanwhile, the party which had been stranded in Raven's Bluff were trying to travel back, halfway around the world. They arranged with the ship's captain who had helped them pursue Katalia to carry them to Cormyr via the Sea of Fallen Stars. In Cormyr, they came upon a rumour that there was some sort of Drow activity. Upon investigation, they stumbled upon a meeting between Zhentarim agents and representatives of House Baenrae, which indicated the possible location of an artefact called the Sceptre of the Sorcerer Kings. Eventually they foiled the plot, only to discover it had been a trap by the Harpers and the artefact was a fake. Fortunately, the Harpers involved did not hold it against them.
In Waterdeep, though, Corrie, Crompton - a Gnomish thief-catcher and Marie became involved in a dispute between powerful Vampires. They were employed by a VERY powerful Vampire - they first encountered him at midday in a sun drenched street! He employed them to track down another vampire who had stolen a very special sword from him. After tracking the thief vampire through Waterdeep's City of the Dead, they caught him and then discovered that the sword was a Sword of Vampiric Regeneration. they had no choice but to hand it over. They were all handsomely rewarded however.
The rebuilding was almost complete in Fallow's Cross, although the Away Team as they had become known as, had not returned. One day, Corrie went to the woods not far from Fallow's Cross to hunt with Pallas. Nothing seemed amiss until a short time later, Pallas came fluttering back, obviously upset. As soon as someone cast a spell to allow them to communicate, Pallas' agitation became understandable when she explained that Corrie had been attacked and taken by several large greenish creatures which smelled bad. The description fitted Trolls perfectly...
