The Incredible Shrinking Party

A trip to the kingdom of Kastria a few weeks later had tragic consequences for Fallow's Cross Adventurers. A party including Djerrold, Melissa, Hastelbane, Fionna, Lafarallin and the Gobbo went to help some people who had gone missing. Using the setting for the Greycloak Hills, they travelled south toward Kastria. Stopping at a wayside inn, strange things began to happen. After being there for a few hours, they discovered they had been shrunk to one inch in height. Soon after, they came under attack by a tribe of similarly shrunken goblins, descending on ropes from the ceiling of the way station. They fought them off and then proceeded to follow them up into the rafters, where they discovered the king of the goblins and the Shaman. The party challenged the King and won, with Djerrold killing him in single combat. Gobbo was given the Throne, but the Shaman tried to escape and launched himself of the rafter into the air. Djerrold decided to follow him and leapt after. Sadly, he had no magic to control his fall and plummeted to his death. Lafarallin and Fionna followed, using ropes but Djerrold was beyond help. They pursued the Shaman, but lost him.

Returning to the goblin tribe, they eventually discover that the person they are looking for is probably held in a city established by a tyrannical ruler in the stables. An attempt to reach them failed when they were attacked by cavalry troops mounted on Rats. They were saved by newcomer who introduced him self as X. He agreed to help them work out why everyone had been shrunk. Eventually they worked out that there was something in the garden. Someone remembered that the shrinking had all started when a mage had fallen out of the sky. The party then went out to explore the garden, joined by two goblins.

They fought a stoat as large as a dragon and explored the waterlogged garden further. Finally they discovered that an orb in the ornamental fountain was the cause of the shrinking effect. Fionna and Lafarallin prayed to Corellon Larethian for aid in toppling the orb out of the fountain. Sadly, they had been affected by a curse which made them overconfident and they did not consider the consequences before taking on the task. Consequences such as what would happen to the person they were suppose to rescue in a tiny room under the stables when the orb was shattered and the shrinking effect was dispelled. Their prayers were answered and they gained extra strength, enough to topple the orb over the edge.

As soon as it crashed down, everyone started growing back to normal size. The stables were destroyed and chaos reigned. The after effects of the prayer Lafarallin and Fionna had used left them virtually helpless. This was the moment Melissa had been waiting for and she attempted to slit both of their throats. She had been plotting with the goblins to double-cross the party at the most opportune moment. X however, saved the day and Melissa had to escape rapidly. The woman they were helping, however, was not happy when she discovered her husband was dead, killed indirectly by the party. She sent a Phantasmal Killer after both Fionna and Lafarallin, but Fionna was able to resist it. Lafarallin, though, died. Fionna did not get away unscathed - her neck had been broken when Melissa attacked them. The party fell apart at this point and it was only the arrival of Morcleb and an Avariel Elf called Auran that managed to get the rest back to Fallow's Cross. The bodies of Djerrold and Lafarallin were brought back. Djerrold was raised again but Lafarallin, being an elf was beyond those magics. Fionna left to carry his body back to Evereska for burial and remained there. Gobbo remained with the survivors of the goblin tribe and led them north, aiming to settle them in the forest near Stanzfeld Mansion.
