GOLEMIC SCRIBES continued to report the activities of a White Dragon to the east of the city, where it was attacking caravans and hunting parties sent to track it down. In a separate article, there was more news about what had been called a "spectral elf" seen around the Heaven's Lathe open-air restaurant recently.
The heat and humidity of Calimport meant that during the daytime the party was relatively inactive, it was in the evenings and at night when they were getting most done. In a large city like Calimport, it was just as busy day or night. In fact, the evenings were the busiest time of day at markets and businesses as the night was yet to come, yet there was relief from the heat of the day. This evening, the Fallow's Cross party had decided it was time to strike back at Randsom. Corrie had delivered some insignificant tidbits of information as she had been instructed, so they hoped they would catch Randsom unawares.
With Corrie, Crompton, Styrel and Brithe as mages in the party, there was enough magic to cast fly upon everyone so passing the wall and gardens was simple. They landed on a balcony on the first floor and entered a room where a well built fighter type was having sex with a girl on the bed. They swiftly overpowered him and tied and gagged the girl. They then proceeded to explore the house, systematically killing all of Randsom's gang, including the fallen paladin of Tyr. They did not, however, find Randsom, but they did find Randsom's treasury and a concealed entrance to stairs leading downwards to the Wine Cellar. here, a wine rack was moved aside to reveal another concealed door which lead to a viewing room overlooking a shrine to Loviatar. This shrine took the form of a torture chamber, with a horribly mutilated but still living victim hanging on a diagonal cross. Sitting in the room at the torture rack was Randsom. He had Pallas helpless in the tiny cage, and was idly toying with a dagger. He then proceeded to taunt Corrie and the others, who when they tried to attack him found that there was some sort of barrier between the bars of the viewing gallery which prevented magic or anything material pass. Randsom's Psionic powers, however, were unaffected and he proceeded to attack individual party members as he taunted a helpless Corrie. Suddenly she noticed a slight fuzzy shadow at a small gate on the far side of the torture chamber. Gradually it formed into the faint shape of a man. Meanwhile she did everything in her power to keep Randsom's attention on her and away from what she guessed was someone using a Wraithform spell. Just as it seemed that Randsom was ready to stab Pallas, the smoky shape solidified into Lassarail who immediately attacked the surprised Randsom and prevented him for hurting Pallas. In the struggle, Lassarail's sword sliced off Randsom's right hand as he made his getaway through the gate and out into the sewers on the other side. As he passed, Julienne stuck him with a dagger - she had been hiding in the sewer tunnel with Lassarail. An emotional reunion then ensued between Corrie and Pallas, while the others regained their wits.
They emptied out Randsom's treasury and warned all the servants to leave the property immediately. They then set fire to it and departed on foot, returning to the Last Call Inn.
