The inn has now passed into the hands of his two adpoted children, Burgot the half-orc and Tanya, the scout for the Militia. Tanya, the brains of the two, has persuaded the bartender, Patric, to take over the management of the inn, including the small brewery in the basement as Burgot is a full-time militiaman, and she is likely to be kept busy with the increase in defences round the village. Before she became the militia's scout, Tanya used to work as a waitress in The Rock and even now often helps out when off duty.
The Rock is so named because when the inn was being built, there were so many large boulders littering hte halfling's plot of land, that he decide to cut the costs of labour by leaving the largest of them in place and building the inn around it. This left an enormous boulder, 7 feet high by 15 feet round in the middle of the common room. Visitors use the Rock in The Rock as a message board or simply to leave their mark or some witty comment for posterity.
