Soon after both Jason and Marie were capable of casting the teleport spell, they persuaded the group to build a wooden platform out over the lake in the back garden of the mansion. The horizontal surface was painted with the symbol of the Fallow's Cross Adventurers and both mages spent some time standing on the platform, studying and memorising the surrounding at each season and type of weather.

The platform can then be considered to be Very Familiar for purposes of targeting the teleport accurately. Since it is about 12 feet above the surface of the lake, if on the slim chance that they end up teleporting low all that happens is they end up a foot or so above the water and fall into the lake. Uncomfortable as it is, the alternative would be to teleport into solid ground, an inevitably fatal occurrence.

Teleporting high means the mage ends up up to twenty to thirty feet above the platform. This normally results in a painful fall, and often a bound to splash into the lake, but as with the teleporting low, it is a preferable fate to the alternative.

Beware, however, on seeing Marie coming in from the back lake soaking wet, do not ask her if she teleported low again!
