Pasha Randsom, head of Guild Randsom has announced an amnesty to all
remaining renegades of the former Guild Parvel which he deposed nine
months ago. Rumour has it that his patience has worn out with the
continuing unrest at street level. City authorities are hoping that
this will finally settle the civil war within the guild which has
frequently spilled out onto the streets.

Arrangements for the carnival to mark the Caliph's birthday are coming
to fruition. The day long celebration will have as its centerpiece a
carnival procession beginning at the Eastern Caravan Circus, crossing
the city via the Rashidan Arena to culminate in a grand celebration in
the Gardens of Delight at the walls of the Caliph's Palace. A grand
ball will be held in the evening with guest bards and musicians form
across Faerun.

Sir Balairanos, Paladin of Helm was executed at sundown yesterday. As
was exhaustively reported, he was found guilty of multiple murders in
and around the Slave Market. In his defence, the authorities of Helm's
Shieldhall stated that Sir Balairanos hailed from Berdusk in the north
where slavery is illegal and immoral. In a judgement which showed
great wisdom, High Consul Hallarm issued a warning to all visitors to
Calimport that the rule of law in the city is CALIMPORT law, not that
of some barbarian village in the far north!

The Elves of Elvenhaven are keeping closed mouthed about the fighting
which took place there a few days ago. Even normally verbose spokesmen
are refusing to comment, leading to much speculation. Only one reliable
source has let slip anything from within the enclave, that being the
news that a priestess hurt in the battle is in a deep coma and fears
have been expressed over her strength as she is very old. Old in elven
terms make most people shudder to imagine!

The Desert Nomads are claming sightings of Shudde M'ell, the Great Worm
of the Desert. Sceptics doubt the veracity of the sightings, pointing
to the potency of the Nomad's fermented goat's milk liquor, Khruff, and
to the increase in caravan raiding as possible causes for the suddenness
of the holy apparitions.

The Guild of Master Locksmiths have announced a reward for information
concerning the assassins who murdered Guildmistress Hulya. A popular
figure in the Guilds Council, her stand against the power of certain
"Merchants" Guilds has no doubt angered some, although reliable sources
indicate the assassins were freelance and not working for any of the
"vested" interests. This is indeed a mystery.

Rumours concerning the return of Nightshade the Assassin to Calimport
have begun to circulate. Little has been heard from him/her/it since
the end of last year. Those who believe they know say Nightshade has
been in the barbarian North for the last few months but has had to come
back to civilization and the comforts of home.

Dwarven clerics of Moradin and Clangeddin have challenged each other to
a spitting match. This is the culmination of a long series of edicts
placing restrictions on the nature of the challenges issued between the
Dwarven religions each year. Who can forget the spectacular collapse of
the Turingal Tower during last year's challenge when Clangeddin clerics
reinterpreted the challenge "First to touch the pinnacle" and instead of
climbing as was intended, brought the whole tower crashing down, touching
the broken pinnacle as soon as the rubble had settled. It is hoped the
latest challenge will prove to be much less devastation the in the past.
