The alleys of Calimport seem to have become a busy dumping ground for
bodies over the last few days. Most of the bodies discovered have had
their throats cut and tongue pulled though the gash. There are claims
that some of the victims have been identified as spies or informants
for at least one Guild.
Several slaves escaped from the Slave Market yesterday. There was
some sort of disturbance and fight under the market, in the holding
pens, and it appear that a number of slaves escaped via connections to
the network of sewers under the city.
The Sea Crane, a cog from Teshburl has been spotted in the Ship's
Graveyard. Nobody is certain what has happened to it, but witnesses
say it is in good shape - unlike most of the other ships in the
Graveyard.
Something valuable arrived in Calimport recently. What it is we have
not discovered yet, but at least two and possibly three guilds are
fighting over it.
The Vizier has threatened a purge on the Desert Raider camps over the
recent atrocities attributed to them. Some say he has other interests
in mind apart from punishment for the crimes they ahve committed.
Apothecaries and potion dealers report a run on anti-venom remedies.
Most have virtually sold out and the price has soared to ridiculous
heights. The potential for bogus goods is immense, so buyers beware.
The Jewellers' Association is threatening a strike if the Vizier goes
ahead with the plans for a new Gem Tax. Sources say the tax proposals
are a Thieves' Guild ploy to cause disruption in the Gem trade.
Counter arguments dismiss this by asking just how much influence these
powers groups have on the present Vizier, Punjol Djenispool the Wise
and whether the Jewellers' Association should continue to make
insinuations about the Vizier's honesty.
Arbuthnot Clawhand, High Priest of the Gnomish god Garl Glittergold,
has claimed another victory in his long running feud with vampires
infesting the Shadowland district to the east of Gnome Mines. He and
his companions claim to have laid to rest a Gnomish Vampire who had
infiltrated the Mines itself and hunted other Gnomes.
The pollution around Dwarf Forge is growing worse it is feared.
Several Mages were employed recently to try to move the pall of smoke
which perpetually hangs over this portion of the city and spreads
somewhat beyond it. They had limited success, but Dwarven Engineers
are looking at building a giant billows to keep the air moving and to
disperse the cloud, preferable away from the rest of the city.
