News travels fast in the Realms and I am sure you have heard of the valiant defence of this city by brave heroes and the common folk defeating together the forces of evil. Never in the field of humanoid conflict have so many owed so much to so few. I have recently arrived in your fine city and the news of the great victory brings with it responsibilities for the future. The most important of these is to ensure that the sombre clothing which reflected the sombre mood last year is replaced by joyous fashion to match the success of this.
On arrival I purchased a copy of that noble Journal "The Golemic Scribes" imagine my confusion therefore when I discovered that in all its worthy pages there was no mention of the fashions of this city, after all fashion is the life blood of any place and much can be gleaned from how the populace dress. Unqualified as I am to talk on fashion in your city the purpose of this short piece is to look at the new fashion in Waterdeep next season in the hope it will inspire local writers to then look critically at what you wear and local designers to come to the forefront and create "the Calimport look".
Next season in Waterdeep will reflect the vitality of victory
and be dedicated to rebirth and renewal. To this end bold colours
will be the norm, bright yellows to reflect the sun, violent greens
the flowering of nature, electric blue the water from which all
life springs and lightening orange the earth in which we grow
and finally rest (orange as opposed to brown because brown is
a drab colour and closely associated with last years problems).
These bold and impressive colours will be combined in striking
floral patterns to again reflect the rebirth of the city. Expect
also many designs of mythical creatures of good. The cut of the
garments will likewise be strong with wide lapels to shirts, blouses
and jackets; billowing sleeves and bodies to show the expansive
nature of the spirit in the face of victory and huge flared cuffs
and trouser bottoms in honour of the robes of the mages who contributed
so to defeating evil and to the great Khelben "Blackstaff"
Arunsun, Mayor and leader who stood with us through all.
