One morning a bedraggled ranger rode into town from the direction of Olorin's Hold and the High Forest. He introduced himself as Artemis and explained that there was a village on the edge of the forest called Stanzfeld, which was being plagued by a Vampire. He needed help to drive it off. Corrie and Malleus were the only ones available and willing. Marie's face drained of colour at the mention of a vampire and refused to have anything to do with it!
The three travelled to the village of Stanzfeld and from there to Stanzfeld Mansion where the vampire lived. After encounters with giant sundews and the vampires young acolytes, they broke into the house. Here an incident occurred which has caused a rift between the three to this day. After they killed several guards who attacked them, a number of women charged at them armed with rolling pins and bedpans. Artemis tried to halt them and did not draw his weapon as he believed them to be of little threat. Unfortunately, Malleus and Corrie read the situation different and attacked with their weapons with their usual ferocity, cutting down several of the women before they realised what was happening. Artemis lost his cool, accused them of being cold-blooded murderers, saying that they were not the people he needed to defeat the vampire. He walked out on them, claiming he was going go fix the situation himself, with or without their help.
Corrie lost her temper and accused him of unprofessionalism for walking out - you never walk out on your comrades in the middle of a mission! She and Malleus returned to Fallow's Cross to pick up further help to finish the job. Returning with Relg, they eventually teamed up with Artemis again, but the atmosphere was exceedingly frosty. They defeated the vampire, but not before Pallas, Corrie's snowy owl familiar came close to loosing her life.
They also discovered a half dead female Drow in the stables, who looked like she had been abused for some time. The scars on her showed that the vampires had been feeding on her. Corrie and Relg were set to kill her out of hand, but Malleus and Artemis prevailed to allow the Drow to live. When she was able to talk, she introduced herself as Akordia Jhalavar, Priestess of Elistraee. Corrie was astonished at this revelation - this was a priestess of her religion. She begged forgiveness for her earlier rash judgement, which of course Akordia granted.
The villagers of Stanzfeld were so grateful that they agreed to let them keep the Mansion as they believed it to be cursed. And so Stanzfeld mansion was acquired by Fallow's Cross Adventurers.
Akordia was a bit of a problem, however. They kept her hidden from the villagers, fearing their reaction, but she was in a state, having apparently lost her memories of the last fifty years or so. She could remember being young in Menzoberranzan, but after leaving that evil place, she retained no memory until just recently being a captive of the vampire. Using their contacts in Silverymoon, they were able to contact the ranger Drizzt Do'Urden and through him Alustriel of Silverymoon to provide sanctuary to Akordia until she was mended. This they agreed and she was taken into their safe care.
