Julienne brought in a copy of GOLEMIC SCRIBES, in which the disturbance outside the Loviatar Church was reported. It also contained a description which fitted Samson for the person seen murdering the woman in the crowd. It was not long after that a detachment of City Guards arrived with an arrest warrant for Samson. Unable to escape, he went along, followed soon after by the rest.
There proceeded a hearing in front of a trio of Calimport judges where Corrie and Crompton argued that they were about to undertake an important commission to help the city and Samson should be bailed from custody to allow him to take part as his participation was vital to the success of the mission. A bail bond had to be paid, which Corrie contributed to with the Ring of Animal Friendship given to her by her Father and previously owned by her mother. Samson was freed, but was ordered to report back in three days for the trial itself.
The rest of the day was spent preparing for the trip east. They departed mid afternoon, passed through the caravan quarter in the east of the city and continued on crossing the Calim Ravine, where the Calim river ran several hundred years ago, before an earthquake further inland changed its course. Even though it was getting last in the afternoon, the temperature was scorching - an arid, rocky desert awaited them, and as night fell, the temperature dropped dramatically. in the city, the temperature differential was not so noticeable, but here in the open, it was a shocking contrast. A camp was struck and various magical shelters were constructed to protect them from the worst of the conditions.
